Happy new year everyone, thought I’d start the year with completing a painting I started back in May 2024. I was making a steady pace before I got frustrated making mistakes doing several iterations of the face and I ended up putting it on hold. The little creature was sat there gathering dust until a few weeks ago where I picked it up again and was able to return to it with fresh eyes and renewed determination. The painting is about all the little side characters in media that get overlooked as comic relief and are not taken seriously, but here we have this magical wizard dog, that despite being mocked by others and people not seeing him as a real wizard, he sits gracefully and noble, feeling sure of himself and proud of who he is as he poses for an artist to create a portrait of him. I was going for a ‘oil painting of royalty’ vibe. My other aim of this piece is to materialise and showcase that dog in me, as it doubles as a self portrait of course. I’m curious to hear your interpretations or impressions on the lil guy, and I hope you all have a wonderful and prosperous 2026 💗 #oilpainting #lilguy #wizard #dogpainting
