Not me waking up from a 6-hour surgery with absolutely no filter 😂😭 I have ZERO memory of saying any of this, which makes watching it back 100x funnier. Breast reconstruction recovery has been no joke, so these little moments of laughter are very much needed 🩷 Currently 3 days post-op and taking it one day at a time! #breastcancer #cancertok #breastcancerawareness

Post-op day 3 after breast reconstruction! 🩷 For those who missed it, I had a six-hour surgery that included a latissimus dorsi flap reconstruction with implants and liposuction in my armpit area. So far, recovery has actually been going pretty well! Mobility-wise, this has been a lot easier than my double mastectomy, which I’m SO thankful for. There are still things I can’t do on my own and need Andrew’s help with, but overall I’m getting around pretty well. The drains SUCK, but we already knew that was coming. 😂 My pain has been manageable with medication, and I’m hoping to transition to over-the-counter pain relief soon. Andrew has timers set on his phone for all my medications, including throughout the night, so we don’t miss any doses. I’m getting sleep, just very interrupted sleep between all the alarms. The bloating is REAL, and my body is definitely feeling everything it’s been through, but I’m trying to be patient and give myself time to heal. I’m only three days in, so I know there’s still a lot of recovery ahead of me, but I’m really happy with how things are going so far. I’ll keep sharing these updates because I know how many of you are preparing for reconstruction yourselves, and I want you to see what the recovery process actually looks like. The good, the bad, and everything in between. 🩷 #breastcancer #cancertok #breastcancerawareness

If there’s one thing this past year has taught me, it’s that who you choose to do life with matters! Andrew has been by my side through every part of this chapter, and now, going through another surgery, I’m reminded all over again just how much he does for me and our family. He’s setting alarms for my medications, emptying my drains, helping me shower, getting me in and out of bed, taking care of the girls, keeping up with the house, and doing a million other little things that probably go unnoticed. All while putting his own needs on the back burner. And I know this hasn’t been easy on him either. He’s had to watch me go through things he can’t fix, and somehow he still finds a way to make everything a little easier for me. I hope he knows that I see it all. Even the little things. I hope he knows how much I appreciate him and how much I love him. I will never take for granted the man I get to call my husband. Marriage isn’t just about loving someone when life is good. It’s about showing up when life gets really freaking hard. And Andrew has shown up for me over and over again. That’s why it matters who you marry. Because when life looks nothing like you planned, you want someone beside you who makes you feel like you don’t have to face any of it alone. 💗 #breastcancer #cancertok #breastcancerawareness
