A man interviewed in 1977 recalls entering the film industry in 1914, only nine years after the first nickelodeon opened in Pittsburgh. His career began during cinema’s earliest commercial years, thirteen years before *The Jazz Singer* helped usher in synchronized sound. From there, another twenty-four years leads to *A Streetcar Named Desire* in 1951. Entire eras of film history, separated by what now feel like vast distances, were contained within a single living memory. #filmhistory #earlycinema #cinema #silentfilm #americanhistory
