📄 Are you writing a resignation every single month? 🔬 PMS & PMDD expert Dr Emilė Radytė (@dr.em.neuroscientist), co-founder of @samphireneuro, told us about a woman she met. 🎙️ "She writes a letter of resignation from her job every single month, and she shows it to her husband, and her husband is, 'Amazing, you should definitely quit your job. How about you save it on a folder on your desktop?'" 🗂️ "And every time she goes to save it, she sees that she has a folder for every month over the last year. And then she's, 'Oh no, that's my PMDD speaking. I don't actually wanna quit my job.'" 💭 In the two weeks before a period, Dr Em says, everything can start to feel existential. Like your whole life needs changing, and it needs changing now. 💼 Which is why so many women with PMDD describe the same things. Fights with partners. Jobs left. Decisions made in a fortnight that the other fortnight would never have made. 🌱 So here is the practical bit. Your thoughts and feelings in that window might still be genuine, and nobody is telling you they are not. But where you can, wait until you are back in your follicular phase before making any big, permanent decisions. Write the letter. Save the letter. Read it again in two weeks. 🇬🇧 NHS guidance is to see a GP if your symptoms are affecting your daily life, and to keep a diary of your symptoms for at least 2 menstrual cycles to take with you. 🧡 If things feel heavier than that: Samaritans, free on 116 123, 24 hours a day in the UK. In the US, call or text 988. IAPMD at iapmd.org has PMDD-specific peer support. 🎧 The full episode is out now, link in bio. #pmddawareness #pmdd #lutealphase #womenshealth #womensmentalhealth
