I’m tired of receiving calls from goat farmers telling me their goats are diarrheating and constantly being affected by diseases. You tell me you have already dewormed and treated them, but when I visit your farms, I find that the real problem is sometimes the environment you are keeping them in. One thing that really gets me annoyed is finding grass growing in the goats’ play areas. I have talked about this so many times. Goats are not like people. They don’t have toilets where they go to ease themselves. Wherever they are, that is where they will urinate and defecate. They can contaminate the grass, and then another goat comes and eats that same grass. That is one of the reasons your goats can continue getting diseases even after repeated deworming. So please, promise me that you will keep your goats’ play areas clear and free from grass. Also, goats love to play. Put simple or anti hills things in their play areas for them to climb and play on even old tyres or simple structures can work. Clear the space, and also leave a grass-free space along your fencing. This helps to reduce the chances of wild animals coming into your animal structures. You may have the money to invest in goats, but sometimes it is the small things you ignore that affect the entire project. And one more thing our office has moved from Kasangati Spot Complex Building to Mpererwe (Kimd complex). Visitors are welcome. Come through and let’s discuss your farm project. God bless you #kimd #goats #shed
