How to prevent dolphins from feeding. Step one , the ol’ fake out. Step two, release fish into structure. Step three, MOTHER FLOUNDER! #captainerik #meettherequirements #letsgo #kayakfishing
This post is not about how hard it is to navigate a category 1 in florida. This post is not about captain erik or fishtok. This post is about acknowledging we all have physical and mental health requirements. Meet your requirements and get a bait back in the water. Stop wishing go fishing. Surmount the adversity and achieve! We’re all a simple list of requirements away from getting the things we say we want. Humble your ego, allow god into your heart and win. I believe in you. #kayak #fishing #storm #popup

There’s an old bit of wisdom the Japanese seem to understand better than most of us: Clean the damn ship before ye sail it. In Japan, cleaning ain’t always treated like some miserable chore ye put off until company’s coming over. There’s sōji, the everyday practice of cleaning, and a long tradition of treating the care of your surroundings as part of caring for yourself. Japanese schoolchildren even clean their own classrooms. The lesson isn’t merely “don’t be filthy.” It’s responsibility, discipline, respect for the space you occupy, and learning to put things back in order. And funny enough, the science seems to be sailing in the same direction. Researchers studying families and their homes found that people who described their homes as cluttered, unfinished, or chaotic also showed associations with stress and mood. In other words, that mountain of laundry in the corner may not technically be yelling at you, but your brain knows the bastard is there. A tidy room gives your mind fewer unfinished jobs to keep noticing. Make the bed. Pick the shit up off the floor. Open the curtains. Put yesterday back where yesterday belongs. It ain’t about having some spotless Instagram house where nobody actually lives. It’s about beginning the morning with one small victory already under your belt. Before the world starts making demands of you, you have already imposed a little order on the chaos. That matters. Because when your quarters are squared away, you’re not waking up surrounded by yesterday’s unfinished business. You’ve got room to think. Room to move. Room to decide what happens next instead of immediately reacting to whatever pile of bullshit is screaming loudest. The Japanese tradition takes that idea even deeper. Cleaning can be less about removing dirt and more about setting the space right. In Buddhist traditions that influenced Japanese culture, ordinary work such as sweeping and cleaning can itself become a practice of attention and discipline. That’s pirate shit if I’ve ever heard it. A captain doesn’t wake up, step over yesterday’s drawers, kick an empty cup across the cabin and announce: “Right lads, today we conquer the fucking horizon.” Nay. Square away the quarters. Make the rack. Wash the cup. Clear the deck. Then face the day. Because sometimes improving your whole damn life doesn’t begin with a new job, a new diet, a motivational book, or some $4,000 bastard selling enlightenment on the internet. Sometimes it starts with making your bed and picking your underwear up off the floor. Clean room. Clear deck. Next requirement. #captainerik #meettherequirements #BLOTT #soberoctober
Alright ye thirsty bastards, the rum’s staying on the damn shore. Captain Erik is doing Sober October. 31 days. No booze. And before somebody starts clutching their beer like I’ve announced the end of civilization, nobody said forever. It’s one month. People do Sober October for all kinds of reasons. Lose a little weight. Sleep better. Save some money. Give the liver a damn vacation. Clear the fog out of the brain. Maybe figure out why every social gathering somehow requires fermented fruit juice before anybody knows how to talk to each other. Some people drink every night. Some only on weekends. Some hardly drink at all. Doesn’t really matter. The question is what happens when you just stop for 31 days? Do you sleep better? Feel better? Think clearer? Have more energy? Save a pile of money? Or do you make it to October 3rd and start staring at a bottle of Captain Morgan like he owes you child support? That’s what makes this interesting. It’s not about becoming a monk. I’m not throwing the rum into the sea and living on kale juice while meditating under a palm tree. I just want to see what happens. Because every once in a while it’s probably worth finding out who’s actually steering this fucking ship. You? Or the bottle? So here’s the challenge, Willsons. October 1st through October 31st. Not a drop. I’m doing it. Who’s coming aboard? No booze. No bullshit. And if somebody falls off the wagon, we listen and we don’t judge. Throw a jelly fish at the screen and stay off the plank. Get your ass back aboard and keep going. Meet the Requirements. Now who the hell is in? Write BLOTTOBER in the comments and commit to the bit. #captainerik #meettherequirements
