6 years .... and if you told me that when I was crying on a level result day back in 2017 that she would get an email saying she would get into medicine 2 weeks before it was due to start, meet the most amazing friends (who are my practically sisters), get through finals and the resits, overcome difficult situations, get myself through the emotional days, the lack of confidence, the entire pandemic, been on the most amazing adventures with my best friend, that 18 year old wouldn't have believed you. But it's a 6 year journey that I've been blessed with in every way and wouldn't have changed it for the world. Alhamdullilah really and truly.... I really have been waiting for this moment and I'm grateful for my whole village behind me🥹🫶🏼 #medschool #newdoctor #medictiktok #student #graduation #fypシ

What they don't tell you.... About being a new doc -It's 2 years that feel like 5. There are so many things you pick up. You start it all nervous and scared of making a mistake, carrying huge expectations of yourself, imposter syndrome, scared to move an inch in the wrong direction. As you go through the process the feelings don't go away but they are dampened because you realise that being a doctor isn't really doing it on your own. As a foundation doctor I feel the biggest thing you can walk away from training is knowing you can't fix everything, having confidence in making decisions and knowing you aren't on your own. For those about to start the next 2 years, you'll make some friends for life, you will learn about the type of doctor you are and you'll surprise yourself now and again. You'll also realise that this journey isn't the same for everyone and it's not a race. I look back so genuinely grateful just for the experiences I had and the fact I had such a solid cohort. It wasn't easy and as you can tell from the video crying becomes your second love language in medicine, the first being eye bags and an AKI. But honestly just enjoy it in the chaos and laugh as much as you cry. Find people you can rely on and trust and don't panic. Trust me you're not on your own. #nhs #fy1 #medicine #greys #greysanatomy #foundationtraining #doctorsoftiktok #doctor #medic #medtok #uk #blackwednesday #traumabonding
