write in a straight line challenge (impossible) "I dreamt, last night, a family with you. I grieved a baby I never knew or wanted. I contemplated calling you with the truth, but it came too late. You had already departed. I dreamt my eyes atop your smile learning how to walk, and woke up with a feverish confusion eating at my gut. Motherhood never appealed to me, I'm not even a good daughter; but she looked like you, and laughed like me, and you taught me how to love her through the way that you loved me. I dreamt that you loved me. You sang her lullabies on sleepless nights and your voice helped me rest, too. I cradle a phantom baby and weep for you to return.
