Week 1 Day 1 Only a week late back to work 🤣 Anyone who tells you that life doesn’t get in the way and you have to be perfect 100% of the time is clearly not a realist 🙃 3 🌍 titles and a string of records cooked on parenting, work, poor sleep, neurodivergence, and just doing the best I can which is sometimes terrible 💀 Anyway overshooting my banded bench and loving being back on my earthquake nonsense ❤️ Some shoulders some more shoulders. Some friends and some joy turning up when motivation to do so is nil. Thanks to @sledgey04 for booting me out of the door and @Princess_of_iron & Laura for the gym company 🥹 #powerlifting

As the same comments are still being made, I’ll repost some more of the same information as well 💁🏼‍♀️ The shirt is made of polyester not elastic. So it is NOT a SLINGSHOT The principle of elastic energy applies, sure, but this material is not the same. Polyester hurts, a tight shirt crushes you, it does not bend and flex like elastic. You have to learn how to get crushed and move in a very specific way and hold form whilst doing it. The tighter the shirt - the harder it crushes you, the harder it is to hold form, the more bruising, the finer the margin for error. Getting compressed by the shirt while you hold more weight in your hands than you do without it 🤷‍♀️ Making sure you hold form and make the shirt bring the bar in to the right place is an art. In a looser shirt it isn’t too bad, but by the time you’re adding 100+kg to your bench in something that turns your hands blue - it’s no joke A mm or 2 out of line on the way down and that is game over - getting this right under all of the additional force to get that touch is a shirt benchers speciality. Stability is critical! A rocket 🚀 off your chest in the wrong direction and that’s it - game over. Controlling that rocket and then keeping it going when the rocket runs out of fuel is strength and skill. TRICEPS finish the press - the shirt doesn’t do that bit. That is why shirt benchers spend countless more hours training triceps on top of all the normal bench press training. If it were as easy as the shirt does it for you, more people would be adding 100kg onto their raw benches with it. To really get the most out of the equipment the lifter using it needs skills that far outweigh raw strength alone. Having a big raw bench helps of course, but that doesn’t mean you’ll get more out of the equipment 🙃 Some equipped lifters are kit specialists Others are strong raw lifters wearing the kit Some blend the two In the end - equipment isn’t everyone’s cup of tea. But that doesn’t diminish the sport in itself. Those of us that use equipment - love our sport and we love the extra skill and learning it takes to do it well. I know how hard I had to work to do what I have done. If the shirt did it all for me, I probably would not have had to wait as long to do it 🤣🙃
