The latest release from Ken Ate My Homework, "Consequences," immediately reminds us of the golden age of Soulection, which bloomed on SoundCloud just before 2020. Two minutes ago, right after I wrote the above, I just found out that Ken Ate My Homework is actually the other half of TIBASKO - a duo we've covered extensively on Stereofox. I had a look at his face for a while, and I kept thinking, I swear I know this face! Now that I've placed a face to a name, the sonic direction of this comes across as quite a surprise. Ken Ate My Homework possesses a groove that feels tropical and is heavily embellished with a summer charm. The Brazilian sample here not only accentuates the above sentiment, but it also breathes life into the experience thanks to the vocals. Scotland is amazing and so is @SlowProgress. Lovely place, great selection of records, knowledgeable/friendly staff, good coffee and a book section, too! Got 4 and then had to hit pause because… bank accounts and this was literally the first store from the tour. Mostly focused on local music, so can’t miss the new corto.alto, a Mogwaiclassic and a very cool/random find by A Sudden Burst Of Colour - a band we supported back when we started in 2013!
