Jeff Fenech defended his WBC World Super Bantamweight title against Carlos Zarate, on October 16, 1987, in Sydney, Australia. The fight started at a high pace until Fenech suffered a cut under his right eye in the fourth round, from an accidental head clash. Because the injury was ruled accidental, the fight went to the judges scorecards at the end of the fourth round and Fenech was ahead on all three cards. The champion was awarded the technical decision victory to retain his belt, ending the fight in a controversial and abrupt way to some people. Things have changed and the rule nowadays is that if there is an accidental headbutt before the fourth round and the fight cannot continue, the result is a technical draw. 🔰 #jefffenech #carloszarate
