There’s been a lot of noise, viral clips, and unfortunately, a lot of misinformation regarding yesterday’s Memphis City Council meeting. So let’s get to it and talk about the FACTS. In this video, I break down what actually happened, why the final vote on the Temporary Data Center Moratorium was delayed, and something that has gotten lost in the conversation: who is actually exempt from the moratorium. A moratorium is a temporary pause. It gives Memphis time to study the impacts, hear from the community, and put comprehensive regulations in place. No misinformation. We’re going to deal with the facts. NEXT VOTE: October 20th at 4:00 PM Memphis City Council Chambers 125 N. Main Street, Memphis, TN 38103 Watch the full video. Know the facts. Stay engaged. #Memphis #MemphisCityCouncil #DataCenters #DataCenterMoratorium #MemphisTN

What’s up, Memphis? You guessed right. It’s another Monday minute. ALL ROADS STILL LEAD TO THE MEMPHIS CITY COUNCIL! And it’s NEVER too late to get on the right side of an issue! On August 18, we introduced the Data Center Moratorium Ordinance calling for community engagement, comprehensive studies, zoning regulations, and responsible site selection. Since then, several proposals have emerged addressing many of those same concerns. Now, follow the timeline. October 8: The City Council outlined additional working sessions featuring expert testimony, environmental protections, and community engagement. October 9: The Mayor announced and signed an executive order calling for a 90-day study, with recommendations ultimately returning to the Council and other regulatory bodies. See the pattern? ALL ROADS STILL LEAD TO THE CITY COUNCIL! Here’s the bottom line: We can study the issue AND protect our communities at the same time! MEMPHIS, SHOW UP OCTOBER 20th! 4 PM City Council Chambers 125 N. Main St. Make your voice heard! Government works best when the community is actively engaged. The time for action is NOW! We won’t get this moment back. #MondayMinute #DataCenterMoratorium #ProtectMemphis #JBSmileyJr #memphis
