I wanted to wait until the heat of the trial was over to see how the internet’s reaction to it would unfold. Today, I want to talk about the “Netflixification of the courtroom.” This isn’t unique to one case, but the Lindsay Clancy trial has become one of the clearest recent examples of how true crime, TikTok and social media can shape the way we consume real-life court cases. Instead of dissecting the details of the trial itself, I’m interested in the way we’ve started applying the language and structure of movies, television and true crime documentaries to real events: searching for plot twists, assigning character archetypes, analyzing moments like scenes, and even casting the inevitable Netflix adaptation before the real-life proceedings are over. When we consume so much reality through the structure of entertainment, does that structure eventually change the way we interpret reality itself? Nothing in this video represents my opinion on the Lindsay Clancy case, its evidence, or its outcome. This video is about media, storytelling and internet culture—not an assessment of the case itself. #LindsayClancy #TrueCrime #MediaLiteracy #Netflix #filmtok
