Chainsmoker Cat or Yani Neko’s anime opening is by J-Rock band Wasureranneyo! I’d first planned on making an regular intro video, but I saw a post where vocalist/guitarist Takahiro Shibata spoke about his declaration to perform at the historic Nippon Budokan for the bands 20th. So, I wanted to share this part of his story! From AiNA THE END’s “On the Way” (Dandadan) to imase’s “Fiction” (Smoking Behind the Supermarket with You), producer Shin Sakiura is behind many great J-Pop tracks! I’ve been wanting to post about him for a while, and last month, he posted a two-part song breakdown* (also w English captions!) of “On the Way” that was very cool. I’ve mentioned a few artists like natori, Ayumu Imazu, and SIRUP here, but he’s worked with so many different artists in his career. It’s also been a few years since he’s released a purely solo work, but he has continued to release remixes and collaborations under his own name. Today’s the last day of Haku.’s live shows in Canada, so I wanted to spotlight them and their global rise! Haku. formed in 2019 when the two pairs of members from different high schools came together at an after-school circle (or club). They went on to win teen music competitions and continued together after graduation. Yet, their international growth would come a few years later, when their tongue-twister cover of MONO NO AWARE’s “Kamukamo-Shikamo-Nidomokamo!!” got millions of views worldwide. This viral cover brought global attention to their studio sessions and amazing discography, that’s continued to impress! I think that Haku.’s members are really talented musicians who each shine in their own ways, while also having really great synergy together. Earlier this year, Haku. was recognized by Spotify Japan’s RADAR: Early Noise program. And a few weeks ago, they released their first album, When The World Changes.
