The reason I hold my babies so close, so often, is because I know what it feels like to be without them. Those three weeks in the NICU were some of the hardest days of my life—watching from a distance, longing to have them in my arms the way a mother naturally should. On top of that, going through C-section complications and having to face another surgical procedure, only to then go home without my babies, is a pain I wouldn’t wish on anyone.
