For five years I’ve dealt with this shit. Constant harassment and bullying. Help me move away!

I genuinely have zero expectations for people to tip, as my live services have already been covered by the hosts! But so many people have been kind enough to offer it, that I like to leave it out for convenience 😊 Edit: I just want to clarify that my intention behind posting this was never to come across as bitter or to complain about being asked to put my tip jar away. When I first started doing weddings, I didn’t even think to have a tip jar out. It wasn’t until multiple guests suggested that I should have one that I started bringing it to events. My perspective is that most, if not all, guests already understand that the portraits are a party favor paid for by the hosts, just like an open bar. The tip jar is simply there for anyone who chooses to leave something extra on their own behalf. Tips are never expected, and I’ve never had someone tip me because they thought I wasn’t already being compensated by the hosts. There have been events where I’ve received no tips at all and others where I’ve received plenty. Regardless, I leave with the same amount of gratitude and satisfaction knowing that I was trusted to be part of someone’s special day. This was also the first time I’ve ever been asked to put my tip jar away, so I hadn’t really thought ahead about how I should handle guests who still wanted to tip. Moving forward, I’ll simply check with the hosts beforehand to make sure they’re comfortable with me having one out. That being said, I also don’t think artists or vendors should be shamed for having a tip jar. Personally, when I see one, I don’t automatically feel pressured or obligated to tip. I see it as an option, not an expectation. It’s been interesting seeing everyone’s different perspectives on this, though! 😅 #liveguestportraits #liveweddingpainting #livesketch #liveeventartist #liveartist
