This time next week we’ll have FIVE year old twins. 😭🤍 Nearly Five years ago, I was told my babies were non-viable. Born premature at 22 weeks, weighing around 1lb each, we were told they had a 0% chance of survival. We were told to say our goodbyes. Have them christened. Get the family in. Make our memories fast. I still remember those early days in NICU, wondering if I’d ever get to see the day they turned five. And now, here we are. 🥹 Counting down the days. Their tiny feet were once no bigger than my little finger. Five years later, I can wrap my whole hand around those same feet. 👣🤍 The babies we were told we would lose are here, filling our lives with happiness, love, laughter and more than I could ever put into words. Their journey hasn’t been easy. There have been challenges, diagnoses, hospital appointments and battles most people will never see. Harry has cerebral palsy. Harley is autistic and non-speaking. Their lives look different to what I once imagined, but they are full of LIFE. I waited over 10 years to become a Mummy to a living baby, and somehow, I got two. They chose me. 🤍 And if there’s one thing these five years have taught me, it’s never to let somebody else’s predictions define the limits of your child’s future. They have each other. They have us. And they have a whole world of experiences still waiting for them. Next week, we celebrate FIVE YEARS of Harry and Harley.
