Listen up 👂🏻 Widows who think they have a “type.” I thought I did, too. And Don was not it. Not because he’s not HOT 🥵 He totally is 😍 I thought my “type” was tattooed musicians with long hair. Well, that was only my type because Justin looked like that, and I fell for him. I loved him. So naturally, I started dating that “type” again, only to realize that none of them were stacking up. Even with all those features, they were not Justin. So that’s when I decided to stop looking for my “type” and instead see who gave me all the “feels.” 😍 Don was (and is) a tall drink of water, so naturally, as we became more involved, he became my new type. I did not settle because not only did he make me smile, but he also made me blush on top of making me coffee. Types are overrated. I no longer have a type; I have a second husband who makes me happy. . . #Widowedmom #widowedmoms #widowedmommy #widowedlife #widowed #widowedandyoung #widowedyoung #widowedyoung #youngandwidowed #widowedliving #thewidow #youngwidowh #widowstrong #widowsofinstagram #widowproblems #griefsucks #bereavement #griefstricken #brokenheartedness #remarriedwidow #remarried

Kids are funny; they can be completely uninterested in something one second, and then suddenly, while you’re giving them a bath, they ask a question like this. Honestly, I’ve asked myself this same question a million and one times. I've had dreams where I’m faced with this actual scenario. Maybe it’s Pearl Harbor’s (the movie) fault. (laughing emoji) So how did I answer him? Well, there didn’t seem to be a proper answer. If I told him his current dad, then he could interpret that as my love never being true or real for him. If I said his birth dad (who died when he was 3 days old), then he would think that our current life is a second choice, and that could cause resentment or weird anger towards Don. So, instead, I gave him the adult answer. I said, “honey, I have asked myself that same question a hundred times, and every single time I start to think about it, I remind myself that I never had or never will have that choice, so it doesn’t really matter. When my answer wasn’t good enough, and he insisted I make a choice, I said that if I were given the choice to bring his dad back, I would take it every single time, but once again, I do not have that choice, so it doesn’t matter. He then interpreted that as me choosing Daddy Justin (who died). And I said, no, sweetie, I’m not saying that, but I’m saying I would always give him his life back if I could. The actual truth is, Don is the perfect person for me today, the post-widowhood, post-trauma, post-motherhood, post-infertility, post-all the crap. Justin was the perfect person for me before all of that. I don’t know who I would choose if they were both here, but I do know that I chose the right person for me twice and I would choose both of them again. It’s weird to live a life that developed out of such a tragedy. But once again, we never had a different choice. The only choice I had was to find a new life that I could blend into my past, present, and future. And that life is also pretty great. #Widowedmom #widowedmoms #widowedmommy #widowedlife #widowed #widowedandyoung #widowedyoung #widowedyoung #youngandwidowed #widowedliving #thewidow #youngwidowh #widowstrong #widowsofinstagram #widowproblems #griefsucks #bereavement #griefstricken #brokenheartedness
