Quarter Horse Congress day 6 👇 Started the morning getting my hat shaped by Danny from Howell Western, a fellow Michigander. Watched the Non Pro Showmanship, where my friend Bree looked absolutely stunning. No callback this time, but she rode back with us in the golf cart and hung out. It was insanely hot all morning, and then the torrential downpour hit right as the 13 & Under Horsemanship was starting. We had to get the kid across the grounds and the water was flooding into the golf cart. Horse soaked, us soaked, still a great time. Watched the longe line with Rich, then a night ride, and I got to leave the first tracks in the Coliseum. Longe line class at the Quarter Horse Congress, explained 👇 These are yearlings, too young to ride, so the judge is guessing what kind of riding horse each one will grow into. First the judge checks conformation and makes sure they trot off sound. Then each horse gets 90 seconds on a 25-foot circle to walk, jog and lope both directions. Wrong lead, a tangled line, or the horse getting loose can cost you everything.
