✏️ Why do we teach 3-digit subtraction using base-ten models in 3rd grade? Because we want our students to understand the WHY behind the math, not just memorize the steps! Using base-ten models helps students visualize hundreds, tens, and ones while building a deeper understanding of place value and regrouping. Instead of simply telling students to “borrow from the next column,” we can SHOW them how to exchange 1 hundred for 10 tens or 1 ten for 10 ones. When students understand what is happening with the numbers, they build the confidence and number sense needed to master the standard subtraction algorithm! 🙌🏽 ✨ Remember: Concrete understanding FIRST, abstract thinking NEXT! 💬 Teachers and parents, do your students find regrouping challenging? Let me know in the comments! 📌 SAVE this video for your next math lesson or homework session! #ThirdGradeMath #3rdGradeMath #SubtractionWithRegrouping #BaseTenBlocks #MathStrategies

Teachers and parents, if your 3rd grader struggles with subtraction with regrouping, try THIS strategy! 💡 In my last video, I showed you how to subtract 3-digit numbers using base-ten blocks. Now, we’re solving the SAME problem using an open number line! 🙌🏽 Why is the number line strategy so important in 3rd grade? ✨ It helps students visualize subtraction instead of just memorizing steps. ✨ It strengthens place value understanding as students break numbers into hundreds, tens, and ones. ✨ It builds mental math skills and number sense by helping students make jumps and count backward strategically. ✨ It gives students another way to solve subtraction problems BEFORE moving to the standard algorithm! Remember, our goal isn't just to teach students HOW to subtract. We want them to understand WHY the math works! 💕 💬 Teachers and parents, which subtraction strategy do your students prefer: base-ten blocks or the number line? 📌 SAVE this 3rd grade subtraction tutorial for your next math lesson or homework session! #3rdGradeMath #SubtractionWithRegrouping #NumberLineStrategy #ThreeDigitSubtraction #ElementaryMath

Teachers, please don’t wait until state testing season to start teaching essay writing! 😭✏️ Because trying to teach introductions, body paragraphs, text evidence, and conclusions all at once? Baby, that’s a whole lot of stress for EVERYBODY! 😂 I’m starting a new series, FROM PROMPT TO PARAGRAPH, where I’ll show you exactly how I teach elementary essay writing step by step. I’m currently teaching 3rd grade, but I used this same writing process with my 5th graders, too! We’re talking: ✏️ Teaching students how to organize an essay ✏️ Planning reasons and choosing text evidence ✏️ Writing introductions, body paragraphs, and conclusions ✏️ Using paired texts and writing in our own words ✏️ Editing, revising, and building independent writers No rushing. No guessing. We’re building confident writers one paragraph at a time! @POPPI Follow @thehypeeducator and comment WRITE if you’re ready for this series! 💖 #EssayWriting #ElementaryTeachers #Poppi #ThirdGradeTeacher #TeacherTok
