Full day at the Country Sports Ireland Trained Hunter & Meat Hygiene Course, and I have to say it was an excellent day from start to finish. The course was split between the community hall for the classroom sessions and J&J Game Dealing in Castlebar for the practical element, giving us the opportunity to put the theory into practice in a real working environment. It really highlighted the responsibility hunters have when harvesting wild game destined for the food chain. From identifying signs of disease and carrying out the correct carcass inspection, to maintaining high hygiene standards and ensuring proper handling, transport and storage, every step matters. Courses like this are essential. They help ensure wild venison entering the food chain is safe, traceable and handled to the highest standard, while promoting ethical hunting and responsible game management. A big thank you to Country Sports Ireland for delivering such a professional and informative course, and to J & J Game Dealing in Castlebar for hosting the practical session. It was great to learn from experienced instructors David Dunne Paddy Gorman, Ronan Gorman, Daniel Fryday, and spend the day alongside like-minded hunters. If you're serious about ethical hunting, deer management and producing safe, high-quality wild game for the food chain, I'd highly recommend this course. #deerhunting #venison #hunting #food #farmingireland
