Lan tells Moiraine that before her, he had nothing else to live for. But that was before he met the Wisdom of the Two Rivers. Now he’s bound to serve a rather reckless Aes Sedai until death, forced to leave the woman he loves to fight Forsaken and Black Ajah unprepared and unprotected. Moiraine knows two things to be true by the time she leaves the Rings of Rhuidean: 1) Moiraine will die at Lanfear’s hands and 2) Lan will choose Nynaeve over Moiraine. She’s already seen him override the bond four separate times to save the Wisdom— ➡️ when Logain’s forces invaded their camp ➡️ when escaping the Machin Shin in the Ways ➡️ when the Black Ajah fled the Tower ➡️ when Lanfear attacked the ta’veren A Warder never leaves his Aes Sedai vulnerable, because if she dies so will he. If Lan walked away from his duty, it’s because he discovered a greater loyalty to the stubborn healer he wants to make his queen. So Moiraine will let him go. Sort of. There’s always a secondary scheme for a daughter of the Game of Houses. Upon her death, she will compel Lan to live by forcing his bond onto another channeler, a grievous and illicit violation of his will. But it isn’t Nynaeve. #WheelOfTime ‘s #BlackAjah — when Aes Sedai (female channelers of the One Power) turn traitor to the Tower and the Light, break free of the Three Oaths (Asimov’s laws but for witches), and swear their soul to the Shadow ❤️♥️🖤 #LiandrinSedai on fire and still mogging the house down. The mug, the micro expressions, the fit, the caustic rage—why do I MISS her, despite everything? It’s a credit to Kate Fleetwood’s acting that you can love-hate someone so despicable and irredeemable as Forsaken pick-me, Liandrin.
