I've learned a lot of lessons since starting my medical journey and there's a lot I wish people had been more honest about: 1. Medicine is a career that will take from you if you continue to let it. Stop sacrificing your wants and needs, live for the NOW. 2. SLOW DOWN. You are not behind, you are right on time. Medicine is a lifelong journey, it is okay to take a detour before getting there. 3. People will tell you nobody in medicine fails. Those people are lying. Failure and your ability to get back up from it will teach you more than your successes 4. Older attendings will tell you this generation is too soft. Remember many of them wouldn't be able to get into school if they applied now. Water off a duck's back babes! 5. You can care a lot without letting medicine become your entire identity. #medicine #womeninmedicine
