On June 28, 1959, Coptic Pope Saint Kyrillos VI consecrated Abune Basilios as the first Patriarch of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church at St. Mark’s Cathedral in Cairo. Previous to that the Coptic Popes had appointed bishops for Ethiopia. Emperor Haile Selassie is seen in attendance. Pope Kyrillos wears Ethiopian vestments embroidered in gold which the Emperor had presented to him before the services.#ethiopia #ethiopian_tik_tok #Orthodox #Tewahedo #coptic
