You know you were there. You just can't prove it. And that bothers you wayyy more than it should. 🫣 The Friday night trips to Blockbuster to stare at the wall of new releases. The chemical blast of Aqua Net turning bangs into a fire hazard. Staying up late to feed your Furby in the dark so it wouldn't scream at 3 AM. It's like someone handed you a VHS tape labelled SUMMER ’86… and your brain immediately went: “Yep. This is mine.” 🥺 Which tracks… but let's be totally honest for a second. We romanticise the 80s... but a LOT of the music from back then was objectively terrible. 💀 For every Tears for Fears track, there were 12 tragic songs that sounded like a robot stepping on a cat. 💀 It was a solid decade of catastrophic fashion choices, TV dinners that burned the roof of your mouth but stayed frozen in the middle, and the low-level existential dread of the Cold War. But you aren't exactly homesick for the impending doom anyway. It’s about the feeling. You miss a time when the future still felt like a PROMISE. ✨ We were just a bunch of kids who genuinely believed... we’d be commuting via pneumatic tubes and eating our Thanksgiving dinners in pill form by now. 💊🛸 That feeling is the absolute worst kind of magic. 🫠 Because it’s entirely fabricated and falls apart the second you try to apply real logic to it. But when you put on the right song... This series has the absurd potential to be one… so WHYYY hasn’t there been a 90s-style Batman anime yet?? 🤯 A guy made of literal clay… 🧱 Ancient assassin orders who bathe in sus green water… 🟢🛁 And a billionaire who dresses like a flying rodent and uses wild loopholes to get past his strict no-murdering “moral code.” 🦇👀 But like Batman interrogating a bad guy on a rooftop… This franchise had us by the throat. 😳 Who didn't want to live in a sprawling Art Deco city with literal icebergs floating in restaurant dining rooms, and botanical gardens that eat men for breakfast?! 🧊🪴 🦇 Batman 80s and 90s movies: The cast was pure magic. Jim Carrey as The Riddler? Arnie as Mr. Freeze?! 🥶 Throw in Danny DeVito eating raw fish as The Penguin, and Jack Nicholson being absolutely UNHINGED as the Joker. 🤌🏼✨ 🦇 Batman: The Animated Series: Literal perfection. It gave us storytelling arcs that are still legendary. Like the heartbreaking tragedy of Heart of Ice, or Bruce kissing Talia goodbye in the desert... IN HIS FULL MASK?! 🏜️ Absolute CINEMA. 🦇 Batman Beyond: Batman, but make it the future. Now imagine Night City but waaay cooler…🌃 And that intro music? Absolute MASTERPIECE. 🎸🔥 But no matter what series or what timeline we were watching… We felt like we WENT THROUGH IT WITH HIM. 🥹🤕 Millions of us carrying the emotional baggage of a fictional billionaire in a bat suit. Maybe that's why the Dark Knight still lives rent-free in our heads. Phil Collins is on the stereo. The dashboard’s glowing. You’ve got a whole night ahead of you and nobody asking if you saw their message. That’s where @Tommy Countach wants to take you. And his origin story is a whole dang vibe 🎸👇🏼 ✨ His own journey involved a few detours. First came motorsport ambitions. Then drums… until his parents said absolutely not. Then his brother’s unused keyboard suddenly got a LOT more attention. ✨ Then came the family PC, a cracked copy of Cubase and an entire month trying to get one synth sound out of it. 💻 ✨ He attended a masterclass with superstar duo Chromeo and realised they use the exact same computer and synths he does. 🤯 Which explains why his music feels like Phil Collins got trapped in a room with 2000s pop-punk. After enough industry rejection and streaming nonsense... he did what any true 80s icon would do. He ditched the pressure of social media and now just creates the videos and music he absolutely LOVES. And you can hear that freedom in it. Put one of his tracks on for the drive home, and suddenly you’re windows down. Fingers drumming on the wheel. Taking the longer route because you’d quite like another few minutes in this little world.
