POV: These are the podiatry scary stories we wish would disappear forever 1.Using a loofah to clean your feet Loofahs can trap bacteria, fungus, and dead skin — especially when left damp in the shower. 2. Cracking your ankles is bad for you There’s no strong evidence that occasional joint cracking causes damage or arthritis. 3. Toenail fungus is “just cosmetic” Toenail fungus can spread to skin or other nails, thicken the nail can cause pain and even ingrown toenails which can lead to complications.  4. Sprains heal on their own Many ankle sprains are undertreated and can lead to chronic instability and repeat injuries if not rehabbed properly. 5. Cutting a V in your nail fixes an ingrown Sorry… this one does absolutely nothing for ingrown nails and there is no scientific proof to support this hack.    Which myth have YOU heard the most?  #scarystories #podiatry #podiatrist #footpain #doctor

Bunions can cause pain, redness, and rubbing in shoes because the big toe gradually drifts toward the second toe. One simple way to help support the joint is K-taping. This taping technique gently pulls the big toe into a straighter position and may help reduce pressure and irritation during the day. In this video, the tape: • anchors on the top and inside of the big toe joint • wraps around the big toe with gentle tension • pulls down toward the inside of the joint to guide the toe straighter • is reinforced with a second strip and a final anchor • rub the tape—especially at the ends—to activate the adhesive so it stays on longer K-taping doesn’t fix the bunion itself, but it can provide temporary support and relief, especially in shoes. Save this video so you can try it later, and follow for more podiatry tips and foot health education. 🦶#bunions #footpain #taping #bunion #doctor
