‘Beeswax, camphor, ivory; the smell of past music.’ My Nonna passed in May this year. Since then I have been re reading her published works, almost devouring them just to feel closer to her. When I read this line on the final page of my Nonna’s novel, Going Inland, I instantly knew the smell she was describing. It was her piano, sitting in the living room of her home, a home that now sits still and quiet. It’s like she just left. Although the novel is fiction, she amazingly wove her own memories, senses and lived experiences into its pages. The way she wrote reads like poetry. Every sentence was deliberate, every line thoughtfully constructed. She had such an extraordinary gift with words. I’m so proud to have known her, and even more proud to have been her granddaughter. Finding this quote on the very last page of her book feels symbolic somehow. Like the closing line of a story. Her story, and in many ways, ours. Arrivederci Nonna, love you always.

Branding shoot but make it… not? Latest captures for @allthingsalissamarie. We spoke about breaking through barriers, limiting beliefs and trauma. Naturally I thought hey, let’s do our own version of a rage room and LITERALLY break stuff. I bet it felt good to smash the daylights out of a piece of technology. Kinda jealous tbh 😂 ‘All the fkn things’ is a term that Alissa uses A LOT haha, more to come on that ❤️‍🔥 🎥 @howcreativemedia #studiophotoshoot #studiophotographer #rage #rageroom #perthphotographer
