This landscape may appear like it’s been here for centuries, and in a way it was. But it was actually moved here. In Nasu, what was formerly a paddy field becomes a forest with trees and water pools carefully placed onto it. Ishigami carefully composes what we now see. Irrigation, moss, plants are no longer incidental but directed and connected to one another. What once existed separately now coexists in ways nature alone wouldn’t allow: 318 trees, 160 ponds, and a ground plane woven with moss. A forest is reorganized, and a meadow redefined. #architok #architecture #landscape #landscapearchitecture #design

Some spaces I’ve loved over the years, each for a different reason. Some for their material richness, others for their monumental scale, and some simply for how unexpected they feel. Architecture has a way of shifting with us and with what we notice.
