Rakhiya De Shabad (ਰਖਿਆ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ) is a collection of hymns recited before Kirtan Sohila or whenever one feels fear. A Gursikh once approached Guru Arjun Dev Ji, saying his horses were being stolen at night. Guru Ji asked if he completed Kirtan Sohila fully, to which the Gursikh replied that he often fell asleep midway. Guru Ji gave him "Rakhiya De Shabad" to recite before Kirtan Sohila. That night, after completing both prayers, two thieves attempted to steal his horses, but the stable doors shut on them. The next morning, as the Gursikh easily opened the doors, the robbers begged for mercy, believing he had special powers. He explained that it was Guru Arjun Dev Ji’s grace, not his own power. He then brought them to Guru Ji, who dealt with them. Similarly, reciting both prayers before sleep forms a protective shield around you.
