#SHOTO | The idea of a hero Shoto is talking about at the beginning and what Shoto has become are incredibly different. It is not coming from the heart when he says he would like to avoid cruelty "if possible", his priorities are completely different, he was task oriented and focused on getting the job done even though he was aware the villains he captured are not even actual villains but possibly some desperate and lost people accepting what they were offered without thinking thoroughly. His approach is completely different from what post development Shoto would do, and since his words are "I want to become a hero" and "avoid cruelty" people might think like, well where is the development, he was decent from the beginning / he still does that? In my opinion those words feel more like something he once knew and internalized but as the time passed he is just repeating what he memorized and does not remember why he is saying that? Since heroes are not supposed to be cruel by logic, I should not be either, I guess, kind of logic but definitely does not feel and adopt those words the same as post-development Shoto does. Either way his biggest motivation to be a hero is to make people feel safe and happy, which was once climbing to the top with half of his power to prove a point out of spite, so even that shows there is a big difference !!! Also I realized while editing this.. "Endeavor surpassed Shoto as a character." then there's Endeavor who watches Shoto fight Touya and can't move a muscle, trying to "atone" but barely doing anything, promising Shoto they will fight together but in the end leaving him alone, can't do anything to stop Touya and try to "hero" his way out if it wasn't for Rei just like he has been doing it for years, being saved by Shoto, and if he wasn't saved he'd think he did something so heroic by dying together with Touya, not facing the consequences once again. On the other hand there is Shoto who faces the consequences, being constantly left out yet never mentions, not being free just so he can clean his family's mess, forgives and gives second chances, understands, does not give up on Touya who is partially a stranger to him, not holding back anymore like he used to do and being unbelievably selfless. Surpassed where? "Only if Shoto wasn't born.." Without Shoto that family would have a very low chance to heal. If it wasn't Shoto, if Enji didn't "succeed" with Shoto, Rei's mental health would deteriorate. The woman was a baby machine for Enji, Shoto literally saved his mother from even harsher things that could happen to her in the future, by just being born. (Unfortunately Rei was already in a bad mental state.) Touya would be replaced anyway, if not Shoto, another baby, Enji would never accept to train him again because for him there was no way Touya could reach All Might. If Shoto wasn't born Touya's dream of Enji paying full attention to him wouldn't happen like some of you delusional Dabi stans claim to be. "I have to find the reason I was born into this house." Shoto found his own reason, with the help of his friends, he is not an extension of his father, not the masterpiece, not the one who "ruined" the family but the opposite, he is the reassuring hero he wanted to be since childhood and that's the path he is on, to become even better. #SHOTO #shouto #shototodoroki #todoroki #todorokishoto #mha #todorokifamily #myheroacademia #bokunohero #shotosright
