POV: Surviving entrepreneurship as a Nurse Practitioner. Three years ago, I said yes to something that wasn’t my idea—it was God’s. I’ve always known I was called to be a Nurse Practitioner. Caring for people has always been in my heart. But owning a practice? That wasn’t part of the plan I had written for my life. “A man’s heart plans his way, but the Lord establishes (orders) his steps.” — Proverbs 16:9 That Scripture has become my testimony. God led me to entrepreneurship, and over these last three years, He has stretched me in ways I never imagined. There have been seasons of uncertainty, difficult decisions, disappointments, growing pains, and moments when I had no choice but to trust Him one step at a time. And yet, through it all, His grace has been sufficient. When I look back, I don’t just see a business that survived—I see the faithfulness of God. He’s the One who has sustained me, strengthened my faith, developed me as a leader, and shaped me into the entrepreneur He was calling me to become. I’ve learned that there is no greater fulfillment than being exactly where God has called you to be. Obedience isn’t always comfortable, but it is always worth it. So if you’re in a season where following God’s direction feels difficult, don’t assume you’ve missed Him because the journey is hard. Sometimes the stretching is the preparation. Sometimes the uncertainty is where your faith grows the most. As I step into this new season at Lumas Healthcare & Associates, my heart is full of expectation. I truly believe God is expanding the assignment He’s given me. One of the things I’m most excited about is launching CONSULTING for healthcare providers who feel called to entrepreneurship. After everything God has taught me over these last three years, I want to help other providers build with wisdom, navigate the challenges of private practice, and pursue the vision God has placed in their hearts. If I’ve learned anything, it’s this: God’s plan was infinitely better than mine. I never would have chosen this path for myself, but today I can’t imagine doing anything else. Looking back, I wouldn’t change a single step, because every lesson, every challenge, and every victory has been used to prepare me for what’s next. Here’s to whatever God has in store next.
