Ah Jie Hokkien Mee, SG$8 (AU$8.80) Smoky wok hei, loads of umami and an incredible sambal. One of the best Hokkien mees I tried on this trip. 2. Chicken House, Upper Thomson, SG$6.80 (AU$7.45) Their kampung chicken rice was honestly the best chicken rice I’ve had in Singapore. Tender, silky chicken, fragrant rice and a really generous serving. 1. Roast Paradise, Old Airport Road Food Centre, SG$6 (AU$6.60) The surprise favourite! Their char siu and crispy pork rice is ridiculously good value, but it was the sweet and caramelised char siu that really stood out.
