“old school” lol Recording this band live has been so fun! Mixed the whole room to sound good and relied on a room mic, of course close mic-ed everything too. Haven’t done any mixing or processing at all just listening to what we recorded analog yesterday and it sounds like a finished record already! I’ve been thinking a lot about the emotion behind mixing we all get so caught up in the technical because it’s easier to wrap our minds around, but at the end of the day, every song just puts you through an emotional experience and the more unique that Experience is the better. In the conversation of analog versus digital, I encourage people to not get too lost into the technical rabbit holes and think more about all the little micro decisions that culminate and do a more natural authentic experience of listening to a song 🎶

I really believe this is the most important thing in your music making career… obviously this is a very long rambling video. I’m gonna try to make a more sussinct one too but dumping this on TikTok anyways for those who care

I fell out of love with blues for a long time because I felt like I was just hearing the same thing over and over again and somehow recording directly to these micro cassettes has made me feel something new with blues and it has totally sparked the flame again who’s sad and trying to rip some blues?
