The next generation is asking all the right questions. ✈️🌾 11-year-old Charlie stopped by S&D to interview Jason for his 4-H speech about crop dusting. He got to ask questions, learn more about agricultural aviation, and get an up-close look at the Ag Wagon. Next week, he’s coming back to give us his speech and check out the Air Tractor. Born in Lubbock and raised in “the good old Panhandle,” Jacob joined S&D in May 2024 after a buddy mentioned we needed help. He reached out to Jason Davis, they sat down to talk about the job, and as Jacob puts it, “it’s been history since!” His days often start around 5–6 a.m., opening the hangar, making coffee, and preparing for the work ahead. The crew reviews planned loads and weather conditions, with wind, moisture, and temperature inversions helping determine how the day unfolds. Jacob helps mix loads precisely according to their load sheets, fuel the airplanes, and prepare for their next trip. He also supports Bryan, our ground pilot, by helping prepare loads and keeping the ground rig clean and ready. At day’s end, the crew rinses equipment, secures chemical totes, and puts everything away for another early morning. ✈️ He wishes more people knew how much happens behind the scenes, from long hours to unexpected plumbing problems! His favorite parts are working with the guys, learning the science behind mixing loads, and expanding his knowledge of the industry. A favorite memory was pasture spraying in Miami, Texas, last year. The crew built a temporary loading setup at the local airport with custom plumbing. Jacob loved putting their heads together to make it work! Outside of S&D, Jacob enjoys helping his grandma around the house and in the kitchen, going out to eat and watching football with his parents, and relaxing with his cat, Cutie. 🐾 He also loves working on his truck, riding motorcycles, and attending concerts. Riding helps him unwind, and meeting people who share his taste in music makes concerts even better. We’re glad to have Jacob on the S&D crew!
