We are living in a world where rape culture is often excused. Especially on college campuses. This case is a perfect example of this. And it’s absolutely heartbreaking to read about. There are Jane Doe’s all across the country. This specific case is only known because the victim is suing. Because she spoke up. Every woman I know has a story. I have a story. Most queer and trans people I meet have a story. This issue runs so much deeper than just one case. So as an artist, I felt the need to speak on it through my art. 6 years. 💉🏳️‍⚧️ For so long it was hard for me to ever picture my future. Even when I first started testosterone I tried to imagine what I would look like when I made it years into my transition and I never could. I guess a part of me truly didn’t think I would make it here. But now that I am, I’ve never been so sure of myself and what I want for my future. Creating art saved my life. Documenting my transition brought me to finding my passion and my true purpose in this life. I honestly think it’s one of the most important things trans people can do. The trans experience is beautiful. Our stories deserve to be seen. Don’t let the world convince you otherwise. To those who have supported me since day one… thank you. You truly gave me the confidence to keep going. And to the community I’ve found since coming out and sharing my story 6 years ago — I wouldn’t be here without you all either. I think about that younger version of myself in the beginning of this video a lot. The one that was excited for what was to come. And I hope I’ve become everything he ever wanted to be — even if he didn’t know it yet. Living in America As A Trans Person I don’t even have the words anymore to explain my feelings about Trump’s speech today. So I hope my art can speak for itself.
