33 years ago, I was a skinny, pimply-faced skater who loved making art. A guy I knew encouraged me to go to the Art Institute. His name was Mike, and we’ve been friends ever since. Fast-forward 33 years. The other day, Kim from Sugar Skull @sugarskull7 sent me a voicemail telling me someone had picked up one of her amazing ACEOs from my little Rustfetish Free Art Exchange. They had even messaged her afterward to thank her for the artwork. Turns out, it was Mike’s daughter, Lauren, who’s an amazing photographer herself. She had stopped by and traded some art in my box. How freaking cool is that? 33 years of friendship, a little plastic box in front of my house, and a piece of art bringing everything full circle. Small world. Art makes it even smaller. I’ve got a bunch of new artwork you guys have sent me, and I’m a little behind on sharing everything. I promise I’ll get it all posted soon. But that’s what I love about this experiment. The art box has taken on a life of its own. People are stopping by, trading art, discovering new artists, and making connections without me even being there. That’s pretty freaking cool. In the meantime, I’ve also been spending my nights playing with my new website. Go check it out at www.rustfetish.com. Support artists. Share your work. You never know where a little piece of art might end up or who it might bring back into your life. Keep creating. #Rustfetish #FreeArtExchange #SugarSkull #ArtExchange #ArtistCommunity

I just realized I live in Utah, so technically this could be my version of the golden plates. 😂 Maybe I’m onto something here. Been a pretty busy week. Haven’t had much time to fire up the laser or make anything new, but I’ve got a couple of designs bouncing around in my head and a few already in the works. Hopefully I can find some time this weekend to bring a few more weird ideas to life. Too many ideas. Never enough time. Keep creating. #Rustfetish #GoldenPlates #UtahArt #DarkArt #LaserEngraving

Today we did a prostate cancer 5K/1K with the family and a bunch of great people. Beautiful weather for the race, and the rain held off until everything was over. Perfect timing! Great day for a great cause. Hope you guys all have a great weekend!
