Reshafting a classic Callaway Big Bertha War Bird with a modern graphite shaft. The challenge: Callaway’s unique Short Straight Hollow Hosel (S2H2) bore-through design, which requires the shaft to extend through the clubhead and finish flush with the sole.The process: Carefully heat the hosel and remove the original shaft, then clean the bore and prepare the new graphite shaft. Since modern shafts aren’t built for this setup, the tip must be properly fitted and reinforced.
