Day 4/100: 5 tips for managing executive dysfunction Executive dysfunction can make everyday tasks feel much harder than they look. 5 strategies that can help: 1. Externalise your thoughts and write things down. 2. Identify your hyperfocus triggers, such as certain environments, sounds or routines. 3. Time your tasks so you have a realistic idea of how long they take. 4. Make the things you want to do easy to access and things that distract you harder to access. 5. Interrupt the shame spiral. Try saying: “Stop. This isn’t helpful. What would make this easier right now?” Difficulty starting tasks can happen for many reasons and does not automatically mean someone has ADHD. Save this for later. #100daysto2027 #ExecutiveDysfunction #Psychiatry #ADHDTips #fyp

Day 5/100| Stopping antidepressants? Here’s what the evidence tells us. A 2024 systematic review and meta-analysis found that 31% (around 1 in 3) experienced at least one discontinuation symptom after stopping an antidepressant. After accounting for symptoms also reported after placebo, around 1 in 6–7 were estimated to be directly attributable to discontinuation. Remember FINISH: Flu-like symptoms • Insomnia • Nausea • Imbalance • Sensory disturbances • Hyperarousal Venlafaxine and paroxetine are associated with more discontinuation symptoms, while fluoxetine tends to cause fewer due to its long half-life. Relapse is a separate consideration. In the ANTLER trial, relapse occurred in 56% of people who discontinued antidepressants compared with 39% who continued over 52 weeks. If you’re considering stopping an antidepressant, consult your doctor or prescriber. References: Davies et al. (2024), The Lancet Psychiatry Horowitz & Taylor (2022), BJPsych Advances Lewis et al.
