Here's a plot hook for the carnival's fortune teller, and the secret behind her perfect record. She offers one free reading to every visitor. The cards never lie, they just take time. The Tower falls on a building in town within the week. The Star finds someone exactly the love they were looking for. Always, eventually, without exception. She isn't reading the future. She's making sure it happens. A hired hand burns the building The Tower predicted. A stranger she paid finds the person The Star promised. She just drew a card for your party. Whatever it shows, she's already decided how it comes true. Subscribe free to our newsletter, The Long Rest. New DM tools every week. Menchie's Mansion of Mysteries draws travelers from towns for miles. Riddle locks, hallways that rearrange overnight, a vault no one's cracked in a year. Solve it and you walk out the front door, prize in hand. A few guests never show back up in town, though. No goodbyes, no warning, they're just gone. Menchie always says the same thing: they found their way out a different door. Here's the part nobody in town has guessed. Menchie isn't human, he's fey, and there's a real doorway home hidden behind a false bookshelf in the attic. The "missing" guests were never guests at all. Just fellow fey, stepping through to the Feywild. For everyone else, it's just an escape room with really good lock puzzles. Menchie's never once stopped a mortal from looking past the puzzle. He's just never met one who looked hard enough to actually find the door. Subscribe free to our newsletter, The Long Rest. New DM tools every week. She's been tracking disappearances for three months. Every guard. Every magistrate. Every noble she approached turned her away. Tonight she found your party — and she has a name, a location, and everything she needs except people willing to act on it. The town loves the Aldenmeres. That's going to be a problem.
