I can confidently say there isn’t a Lebanese person who wouldn’t invite you in for a cup of coffee. That’s who we are. The hospitality of the Lebanese people is unmatched. And yet here we are… in times like this, watching a nation that just wants peace being torn apart. I was speaking with my mum about her home, the country she was raised in, and hearing the helplessness in her voice cut deep. Having to ask, “Is the family okay?”… it doesn’t sit right. I’m Australian Lebanese, and I’m feeling this deeply. My heart breaks for the people of Lebanon. Watching what’s unfolding is distressing, and honestly, it’s hard to put into words the anger and sadness. The pain everyone is feeling... Who do some people think they are, acting with such entitlement over others? It’s hard to comprehend. But if there’s one thing I know, it’s that the people of #Lebanon endure. They always have. And I hope that one day, we’ll sit together again, sharing a cup of coffee, with love, laughter, and better days ahead. (Yikes the birds are so loud!) #lebanesecoffee #ahweh

Ouft, the crunch on these! I make my kaak cookies with coarse semolina for that extra bite and they’re seriously addictive. These Middle Eastern anise cookies go by many names, including Kaak el Eid, Easter cookies, or yansoon cookies. This is my Lebanese version of them.
