Many have asked for an update on this pt’s acne scar treatment. These are his most up to date results. He is 9 months out from his fully ablative CO2 resurfacing with cannula subcision, and 7 months out from any volume replacement. No treatments have been done for his acne scars since then. He looks amazing. Results are holding beautifully 👌🏼 #acne #acnescarstreatment #scars #acnescarsremoval #acnescarring
The Depressions of Rolling Acne Scars: An important concept to understand. The primary problem in rolling acne scars is VOLUME LOSS, not tethering. The volume loss can be complicated by tethering, but first and foremost it is a volume loss problem. As such, you should look at rolling scars as two variations: 1. Volume loss, not complicated by tethers 2. Volume loss, complicated by tethers Why is this important? Assuming lasers and devices are generally poor at restoring volume, to successfully treat a volume loss problem you have to incorporate filling into the equation. The only question becomes whether you also need to include subcision to free the volume loss from the tethers before filling. This is such an important concept I have learned. Most believe rolling acne scars are a tethered problem, and subcision is their answer. It is not. They are a volume loss problem that can be complicated by tethering. A major distinction that will give you the upper hand when you treat acne scars patients. #acne #acnescarstreatment #scars #acnescarsremoval #acnescarringjourney
I had so many questions on my prior post about TCA CROSS, and when or if I neutralize TCA that I thought I would address this question. This is a very important concept with TCA. There is no neutralizing this chemical peel. It's like asking how do I reverse egg white once it has been heated and gone white? You can't. TCA is not a typical acid-base reaction like some other chemical peels. It binds to, and irreversibly denatures protein. As such, once the frost has taken place, the injury has taken place. If you have a spill, your only hope is to wipe it off faster than the time it takes for the frosting to occur. I've seen posts where TCA is applied and then followed later with a wet gauze AFTER the frost has occurred. If the purpose of that wet gauze is to neutralize the TCA, it is doing nothing. The only thing that matters is your reaction time. Please share this with anyone you know that performs this procedure. Maybe it will eventually reach someone who doesn't know this about TCA, and it will help prevent an injury. #acne #acnescarstreatment #scars #acnescarsremoval #tcacross
