Size-inclusive fashion shows are sooooo healing! In a world where runways show less than 1% of plus-size models on the runway (Vogue Business) despite 70% of American women and femmes wearing size 14 or larger, we ALL need this kind of normalization of body diversity. At Fat Con, the fashion show is 100% fat-focused and we are HERE for it. Seeing more bodies and all the unique ways they look is critical to chip away at the anti-fat bias ingrained in us all by industries that want to profit off of our self-hatred. You get one body for your one life, and it's not getting any younger. Hating parts of yourself won't lead to healthier outcomes. Your best body is the one you have available to you right now. It works so hard for you, and learning to love and appreciate it through all your ups and downs together can only improve your quality of life.
