An overture so good, even Mozart couldn't leave it alone 🎻 Handel's Acis and Galatea grew from a short one-act piece into fuller versions with two and three acts. And the appeal never faded. Decades after Handel's death, Mozart even made his own arrangement of it. Some music simply refuses to be forgotten. Conducted by: Vitali Alekseenok Want to hear this kind of timeless music live? The Didgeridoo 🪈 Singing and playing the flute at the same time? Lucie Horsch just does it. In Tüür's 'Whistles and Whispers from Uluru,' she picks up the bass flute and makes it sound just like a Australian instrument: the didgeridoo. Simply by singing while she plays, two notes suddenly sound at once. A striking technique, fitting for a piece inspired by the Australian landmark Uluru. Curious for more moments like this? Mendelssohn's Symphony No. 3 saves its best for last 🎼 Most of the finale sounds dark and stormy. Then, at the very end, the music suddenly shifts to major. The closing melody is almost identical to Mendelssohn's own Ave Maria from 1830, in the same key and the same time signature. So after all that storm, we finally get a happy ending!
