Sweet little Hope has officially arrived at her new foster home in Sonora county, California! ❤️ Hope is only about 3 months old and absolutely tiny possibly under 15 pounds. We still can’t believe this little soul was out there running around on her own while suffering from such a severe skin condition. 💔 She recently saw a veterinarian and received antibiotics and flea treatment, and we’re hoping that with some time, proper care, good nutrition, and lots of love, her skin will start to heal and she’ll be feeling like a puppy again soon. 🙏 Hope is understandably a little scared right now. She was separated from her family and her sister, and we know she must be wondering where they are. 💔 We’re still hoping her Bakersfield rescuers and supporters can help locate her family and sister. If we can find them, maybe we can reunite them and hopefully save them one by one. 🐶❤️ For now, Hope is safe. She has a foster home, a warm bed, food, medical care, and people who are going to make sure she knows she is loved. If you would like to help Hope, donations toward her veterinary treatment, food, medications, and ongoing care would mean so much. Every donation helps us continue saying YES to animals like Hope who desperately need someone to step up. Thank you to everyone who helped get this tiny girl to safety. ❤️ 🐾 Welcome to safety, Hope. 💔 HOPE UPDATE: A LITTLE SOUL WHO HAS LOST SO MUCH, BUT IS STILL FIGHTING TO HEAL. 💔 Sweet little Hope… you deserved so much better. 😭🐾 When we first heard about Hope, she was a scared little puppy trying to survive on the streets. Somewhere along the way, the humans who should have protected her failed her. Instead of knowing the warmth of a loving home, the comfort of a gentle hand, and the security every puppy deserves, Hope was left to fend for herself. She may have been surviving alongside her sibling and possibly other dogs from her family, but she is now alone. 💔 We still have not been able to locate her sister, and we can only imagine how frightening and lonely this must be for such a young, vulnerable puppy. After examining her teeth, we estimate Hope is around six months old. Six months. She should be playing, learning, exploring the world, and discovering that humans can be kind. Instead, she has already experienced more fear and hardship than any puppy should ever have to endure. Hope is incredibly shut down. You can see how deeply her experiences have affected her. She is frightened, unsure of people, and still learning that she is safe. Her little spirit has been through so much, and it will take time, patience, consistency, and unconditional love to help her understand that not every human will let her down. ❤️ Since coming into our care, Hope has already had THREE veterinary visits. She is receiving the medical attention she needs and is currently on preventative care, antibiotics, and medicated ointment. Her healing will be a process, and we are committed to giving her the time and treatment she needs to recover. Hope is currently located in the Sonora, California area, where she continues to heal physically and, hopefully, emotionally, too. We wish she could tell us everything she has endured. We wish we could explain to her that she doesn’t have to be afraid anymore, that she doesn’t have to search for food or wonder what tomorrow will bring, and that she will never again have to face the world all alone. But trust isn’t built overnight. For Hope, every vet visit, every gentle interaction, and every day she is safe is another small step toward the life she should have always had. We also haven’t given up hope of finding her sister. Somewhere out there, another little life may still be waiting to be found. 💔 Today, we are asking our community to please help us help Hope. Veterinary visits, medications, preventative care, and ongoing treatment add up quickly. As a rescue, every dollar we receive goes toward animals just like her — the ones who have been forgotten, abandoned, and left with no one else to turn to. 🙏 If you can donate even $5 or $10 toward Hope’s medical care, it would mean so much to us. If you cannot donate, please share her story. You never know who might see it and be able to help. Hope didn’t choose to be abandoned. She didn’t choose to be afraid. She didn’t choose to grow up on the streets. Humans failed Hope once. We refuse to let her down now. ❤️🐾 Please help us show this sweet girl that her story doesn’t have to end in heartbreak. She deserves a chance to heal, to feel safe, to trust again, and to finally know what it feels like to be loved. Please donate toward Hope’s care through Pack Lyfe Rescue Inc., our 501(c)(3) nonprofit rescue. 🌐 Website: packlyferescue.com Every donation, every share, and every kind word helps us keep fighting for the animals who need us most. Help us give Hope a reason to believe in people again. ❤️ #PackLyfeRescue #HopeUpdate #RescueDog #RescueIsMyFavoriteBreed #HelpHopeHeal

Sweet Penelope, where do we even begin? She has already been through so much. Found in an orchard in Stockton, broken and searching for food, her rescuers couldn’t leave her behind. With coyotes and other dogs in the area and Penelope unable to fend for herself, they reached out to see if we could help. Of course, we couldn’t say no. Penelope was taken to UC Davis for further evaluation, where surgery was seriously considered. Her back is severely fractured, almost broken in half, and repairing it would require major surgery with possible pins. Even then, there is no guarantee her back would heal properly. The risks are incredibly serious, including potentially damaging her spinal cord, leaving her fully paralyzed, or causing life-threatening complications because of how close the injury is to her diaphragm. UC Davis and other emergency veterinarians discussed euthanasia as a humane option because of the severity of her injuries and the possibility that she might never walk again or regain bladder control. These were heartbreaking possibilities, but we wanted to give her a chance while carefully considering the risks surgery could pose to her life and long-term well-being. The veterinary team recommended allowing Penelope’s fractured pelvis approximately 12 weeks to heal on its own with strict rest, pain management, and careful monitoring. We also decided to give her back time to heal before considering further intervention. As her recovery progresses, her veterinary team can evaluate whether enough scar tissue and natural stabilization develop around her spinal injury to support her spine. If she improves and her spine stabilizes sufficiently, she may not need additional surgery and could potentially live a comfortable life with appropriate care and mobility support. And then, something wonderful happened! After leaving the hospital, she no longer needed her catheter or manual bladder expression. She began urinating and having bowel movements on her own! We believe time and medication may be helping her, and we couldn’t be happier to see these changes. We’re starting to see a little spark in Penelope. She wants to play with toys, interact with people, eat, and drink water. She can move both of her back legs forward and backward, but she still cannot stand because of her broken back and fractured pelvis. Considering everything she has endured, she is doing remarkably well and showing us her fighting spirit. Someone has generously donated a set of wheels, and we’re hopeful that when she’s ready, they may help her become more mobile and enjoy greater independence. For now, she remains fragile, and we’re giving her the time and care she needs while continuing pain management and evaluating her progress. Penelope has already shown us how much fight she has in her, and we want to give her every chance at a better life. We’re looking for a foster for Penelope! If you have experience caring for paralyzed or mobility-challenged dogs, or you’re willing to open your heart and home to this special girl, please reach out to Pack Lyfe Rescue. She is currently in Hayward, California, and needs someone who can provide a safe, patient, and loving environment while she continues her recovery. Every day matters, and we want to give Penelope the best chance possible.
