Cost of living crisis? At least my crochet hobby is finally saving me money! With heating bills getting more expensive, I’m finding the silver lining in one of my favourite handmade crochet projects — this super cosy granny square poncho! I freehanded this crochet poncho a few years ago using a gorgeous alpaca blend yarn, and honestly, it’s one of the best things I’ve ever crocheted. It’s essentially one giant granny square turned into a warm, wearable crochet poncho, and it’s absolutely lush! Not only does it keep me lovely and warm when I’m trying to avoid turning the heating up, but it also helps me save a little money on energy bills. Which obviously means more money to spend on yarn. That’s how saving works, right? There’s no free crochet pattern for this particular poncho because I completely freehanded it, but it’s such a great example of how simple granny square crochet can turn into something beautiful and practical. #crochetersoftiktok #yarn #grannysquare

Crochet WIP Wednesday! Two crochet garment projects, two very different vibes, and a FREE beginner-friendly crochet pattern coming soon! First up is my ribbed crochet mock neck top, made using 4ply/fingering weight yarn. This idea has been in my head for ages, and I’m absolutely loving how it’s working up! It’s beautifully fitted, but I can already tell some bust shaping will be needed. Definitely one that’ll be following me into the new year! Next is the Haven Hexi, my next FREE crochet garment pattern, hopefully releasing at the end of October for my birthday! This beginner-friendly crochet wearable uses minimal shaping while introducing the basics of crochet garment construction — body measurements, armhole depth, body width and body length.
