The 1922 Peace dollar was struck during the first full year of production for Anthony de Francisci’s Peace dollar design, which debuted in late 1921. Struck in 90% silver and 10% copper, the coin weighs 26.73 grams and measures 38.1 mm. Its obverse features Liberty wearing a radiant tiara, while the reverse depicts an eagle perched on a rocky crag, holding an olive branch, with the word PEACE below. More than 51.7 million were struck at the Philadelphia Mint alone—51,737,000 in total—making the 1922 Philadelphia issue the highest-mintage Peace dollar and one of the most widely produced coins of the series. #PeaceDollar #SilverDollar #USCoins #Numismatics #CoinCollecting
A beautiful piece of Dominican numismatic history. 🪙 This 1952 Dominican Republic 1 Peso was struck in .900 fine silver, weighs 26.7 grams, and measures 38 mm in diameter. Only 20,000 pieces were minted, making this a notably low-mintage issue. The design belongs to the KM 22 type, issued only in 1939 and 1952. The obverse features the Dominican national coat of arms surrounded by “DIOS PATRIA LIBERTAD” and “REPUBLICA DOMINICANA.” The reverse depicts the female personification of Liberty, facing left, along with the denomination, weight and date. The reverse was designed by British medalist Thomas Humphrey Paget. A large silver peso, a small original mintage, and an attractive Mint State survivor more than seven decades later. #DominicanRepublic #DominicanCoins #Numismatics #SilverCoins #CoinCollecting
A Salvadoran commemorative coin with a mintage of just 2,000 pieces. This 1925-Mo El Salvador 1 Colón was struck at the Mexico City Mint to commemorate the 400th anniversary of the founding of San Salvador. It is a one-year type with an exceptionally low mintage of only 2,000 coins. The obverse features the overlapping portraits of Pedro de Alvarado and President Alfonso Quiñónez Molina, surrounded by the commemorative inscription, while the reverse displays the coat of arms of El Salvador. Cataloged as KM-131, the coin was struck in silver. The example shown here has been certified by PCGS as MS63, meaning it remains in Mint State, with no wear from circulation. For a coin approaching a century old and produced in such limited numbers, surviving examples in uncirculated condition are particularly noteworthy. A low mintage, silver composition, commemorative significance, and Mint State preservation make the 1925 San Salvador 400th Anniversary Colón a fascinating piece of 20th-century Salvadoran numismatics. #Numismatics #ElSalvador #CoinCollecting #SilverCoins #Numismaticos
