My mom gave her to me when I was 5yrs old. I’ll be 54 next month. Yes she looks bad but once you read her story, you’ll see why I love her so much! My mom was severely mentally ill, times when she had to be institutionalized, I’d give her Bun Bun to keep her company. My mom would bring her back to me, with stars glued to her, moons for eyebrows and replaced her missing eye with a then shiny button. My mom couldn’t do things like other moms do but she told me how much she loved me every single chance she could. I know making bun bun look special was a way to show me. When I was a pre teen, I gave her to my niece who was going out of the country, Bun Bun came back to me 3yrs later. As an adult, Bun Bun even kept my daughter company until I seen how fragile she became and I’ve had to keep her inside a plastic bag for many years. She came out the plastic to comfort me through a serious depression through my divorce, I hugged her, imagining it was my mom hugging me. Bun Bun now sits on my dresser- as a reminder of how much my mom loved me, even after all these years she’s been gone.
