'Cwm Rhondda', the most famous of Welsh hymns, was first sung at Capel Rhondda in Hopkinstown, Rhondda-Cynon-Taff in 1907. Since then it has become a symbol of Welsh culture, performed at many a wedding, funeral, rugby game and almost any Welsh occasion going. With a dwindling congregation, the chapel where it was first performed has come at risk of being lost. The campaign to save and restore this historic location, contacted us and asked us to record the tune to help draw attention to their cause. Since then the money has been raised to buy the chapel via a Crowdfunding campaign. More funds however will be needed to secure the building and help restore it.
