On Wednesday June 24th 2026, my sweet baby Edward passed over the rainbow bridge. Age 7 years and 1 month, weighing 7.3kg of unconditional love. My heart is broken and I've barely stopped crying since. Coming home without him was torture and his brother still doesn't understand why he hasn't come home. I took him in for something small, and the vet found something fatal. There was a blockage in his bladder that had come on literally overnight. Otherwise, he was a perfectly healthy cat. And I didn't have a choice but to let him go. The bill the vet wanted to save him was too large and I couldn't get the money anywhere despite asking desperately for 4 hours. Not even the cat charities would help me because I don't live in their areas. I wasn't allowed to take him home with painkillers to make him comfortable, I had to have him put to sleep. I held my best friend in my arms while he looked at me with the most fearful eyes, listening to me tell him how much I love him and how sorry I am as he fell asleep for the last time.
