If you've never seen a duende, now you have. In honor of spooky October month, we'd like to share this charming duende costume that we saw when we visited LA Opera's costume shop. You can see this costume in action in our upcoming production of Carmen, set in the midst of the Spanish civil war, in a dark, dreamlike version of Spain. This particular costume will be used by the Chorus Children who will be portraying village children dressed as the mischievous supernatural beings from Spanish folk tales, known as duendes. Join us for Hercules vs Vampires on Halloween night and that could be YOUR reality!   Experience Mario Bava’s 1961 cult fantasy film "Hercules in the Haunted World" on the big screen at The United Theater. Starring former Mr. Universe Reg Park as Hercules and screen icon Christopher Lee as Lycos, a power-hungry ruler bent on immortality. When Hercules sets out to rescue the woman he loves, he must journey to the underworld and back to face an army of the dead.
